In September 2019 we addressed residents of Caleb Village in Humboldt on the topics of falls prevention, fraud prevention and the benefits of the 55 Alive Mature Driver Program. In early November 2019 we held a Senior Safety Symposium in the community of Muenster providing information to 16 seniors on topics related to falls prevention, drug interaction and falls prevention, the 55 Alive Mature Driver program, the hazards of sitting, senior abuse, fraud prevention, the development of safety plans, home safety, and information needed by EMS when assisting seniors. We partnered with the seniors’ group from the community to develop the symposium content and structure. We also connected volunteer youth in the community with seniors to provide snow removal for those unable to complete this task over the course of the winter months.
