This in-depth program has two components:
1. A School based portion where Kindergarten through Grade 8 educators teach rail safety lessons to their students. Following these lessons, Kindergarten through Grade 5 students draw pictures which depict something they learned through their lessons and Grade 6 through Grade 8 students create an awareness video depicting a safety message they want to share with others (January 8th – May 8th, 2018).
2. All individuals from our local communities get to vote on our favorite pictures and video’s which can be found on www.discoverhumboldt.com (May 25th – June 5th, 2018).
The artists of the favorite pictures win a Bluetooth speaker (2 categories of winners: K-Grade 2, Grade 3-5) and the creators of the winning video win a prize based on submission (Grade 6-Grade 8; if submitted as a classroom production the winning classroom will receive a pizza party; if submitted as an individual or small group of students they will receive a prize of similar value).
All winners are announced on June 8th, 2018
