Safe Communities along with Humboldt & District Community Services and Futuristic Industries have teamed up with SGI and our local emergency service organizations to bring a pedestrian and bicycle safety program for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.

This program included two components.

On April 30th, we will held a pedestrian safety program, which taught those with physical and intellectual disabilities how to be safe while walking.  This included two aspects; a short classroom session and a walk around a pre-determined route (visiting locations that participants frequent regularly).

On May 1st, a program with the same format ran using bicycles.  The SGI Safety Squad were present assisting with helmet fittings, bike checks and sharing safety information.

Thank you for everyone who watched our for us while we were out walking on the sidewalks and trails on April 30th and on the streets cycling from 1:30 until 3:00pm on May 1st.

We thank the Humboldt & District Ambulance Service, the Humboldt Fire Department and the Humboldt RCMP for assisting us and the Humboldt Good Neighbour Store for sponsoring this program.
